PayPal now in Nigeria but still can't pay for upgrAde

  1. Paypal now in Nigeria but I still can't pay for upgrade via pal pay cos when I clicked on PayPal. I couldn't find nigeria among the listed countries.

Mean while Nigeria is now a PayPal supported.

Does wordpress have personal issue with Nigerians? I was made to understand before that I couldn't pay for upgrade because wordpress.com uses PayPal and Nigerian isn't a supported country.

Now that PayPal is in naija, what's the way forward please?

The blog I need help with is unilagadmissionsguide.wordpress.com.

  2. Sadly, Nigeria is not a PayPal supported country due to the many scammers and spammers who have set up there and are still functioning there today.

Below are the only accepted means of payment.

WordPress.com uses PayPal as the payment processor, and as such, can only accept payment from countries they support: https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/

If for whatever reason, they have chosen to block payment from your country, you will not be able to purchase an upgrade here unless you have a source of payment outside of your country. (Buy a prepaid credit card from an approved country or pay in Bitcoin.)

In addition to major credit cards Mastercard, VISA, American Express, Discover, and PayPal https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/ WordPress.com can accept echecks and some debit cards.

The debit card must have a VISA or Mastercard symbol on it, and should work just like a credit card when selecting the VISA or Mastercard option on the payment form, even though it's a debit card.

    More about echecks here:

WordPress.com also accept Bitcoin for payment of certain upgrades http://en.support.wordpress.com/?s=bitcoin

  3. It seems you didn't read my story before replying. Please do and stop telling me what I already know

  4. I'll gladly stop telling you what you already know and also be sure never to respond to any thread you post here again.

  5. I didn't force you t reply. I already know the stories you wrote above, you ve wrote that times without number.

I only asked because recently paypal accepted some countries and Nigeria was part of the country. You can google that for more info.

I just asked for clarification cos most of my friends already registered with PayPal and they are already doing transaction with them.

Is it a sin for me to want to verify?

Ofcourse I have been using wordpress.com for more than two years now and I already know the story.

  6. Unfortunately, Niger is listed here https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/ and Nigeria is not listed there. You could consider buying a prepaid credit card from an approved country or paying in Bitcoin.

  7. Thank you, can you give me a link where I can get a prepaid credit card?
Don't know how to use bitcoin. Thanks

  8. I live in Canada and have never purchased a prepaid credit card so I cannot help with that. I'll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

  9. Okay, thank you

  10. Hi there!

Our payment processor, Paypal, does not include Nigeria in our list of supported countries at this time. Sorry about that! As what TT suggested, you may opt to subscribe to a prepaid credit card and use it to purchase your upgrades. If you search for "prepaid credit card" on Google, you may find the right place to buy one online:

    https://www.google.com/#q=prepaid+credit+card

Let me know if you encounter problems. Best wishes!

  11. Thanks so much guys. I appreciate

  12. You're welcome, Timothy! I do hope you get to sort this out soon.

  13. Guys, TT and Druesome, Nigeria is listed among the countries paypal supported, how come I still can't use it to pay here. Here is the link; https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/

Thistimethisspace, pkeas check that link you gave to me and you will see that Nigeria is boldly written there.

Does wordpress have personal issue with Nigerians cos am now sure it's not about paypal anymore

  14. It was not there previously when I checked.

  15. So what do you think the problem is now? Can you tag a staff, let's hear what the problem is. Thanks for the quick reply

  16. I so much love wordpress.com and I don't see myself leaving this platform even though I have a self hosted wordpress.org site. That's why am so concern about this whole thing.

  17. We have just become aware of PayPal's changes. While it is still not possible to purchase an upgrade in Nigeria, we are looking into this matter and hopefully will soon be able to extend upgrade purchases to our users in Nigeria and other countries.

  18. I really pray and hope so and please TT join me in also praying for this.

We ve waited for too long.

  19. PayPal adding Nigeria is a brand new development, which is why we were unaware of it previously. Because this is so new, we do not have things set up to work with Nigeria yet, but it's definitely on our radar.

  20. Jackiedana

but it's definitely on our radar"
so so happy to hear that. I just wanna take my blog http://unilagadmissionsguide.wordpress.com to the next level for the sake of my readers.

Thanks as we await you guys upgrade

  21. @ozovehe101
    Praying for this? Absolutely not!
No one needs a domain to pursue their blogging passion. You and I both know that you can have a successful blog on a subdomain. However, I suspect what you are on about here is not about loving blogging. It's about making money. Matthew 6:24

  22. Timethief calm down, am already making money from my blog through consultations. It's not all about money true. But my readers are complaining that my url is too long and I really wanna ease that.

You talking you know you are not using a subdomain on your blog so what is your problem.

The way you talk sometimes is very annoying. Why are you quoting the bible here.

I feel you should know better than all this.

    Are you an attention seeker?

  23. A blind man will even feel my passion at http://unilagadmissionsguide.wordpress.com which I have been doing for the past two years now. If not passion, the frustration of not been able to do any upgrade would have layed me off out of wordpress.com

You just open your mouth and talk anyhow after all your blogging experience. Na wa ooh

  24. It looks like this issue has been resolved for now, so I'm going to close the thread.
