I have created this blog to help support a benefit for a sick little boy. I was wondering if it is permissible to add a Pay Pal donate button. I have tried to apply the code provided by paypal, but it seems to disappear when I save it. Is this action not allowed, or an I doing something incorrectly?

WordPress.com doesnt permit Java script so the default Paypal button won't work.
However in Paypal go to Profile / Selling Prefernces to create a new button, go through all the options you want then choose the Email version, not the Website version. That works just fine.
That's not actually true.
You asked about the Paypal Donate button. That works here, as long as you use the unencrypted version.
If you are still having difficulty, please post the actual code here, between code tags, along with the specific name of the button you're trying to embed.
This useful WordPress page contains the instructions I followed successfully which def. mentioned the Email version.
The page mentions WP doesn't allow web forms, not Java. My mistake.
