I realize that when someone signs up to my site it gives them a password.
Is there a way to make it that they can enter in their own password or does wordpress have to do it for them?
I realize they can change it after they login to their wordpress profile page, but I wanted to see if they can do it as soon as they sign up.

i can't think of any way to do that. But it's not really a problem. you just type in the pass you got and change it at your profile
Computer-generated passwords are safer anyway..
Actually if they're talking about folks signing up on the poster's site, chances are they're talking about their own wordpress install hosted elsewhere.
