Permalink structure for music review blog

I've got a music/album review blog ( http://goo.gl/YtkI ) that I'm trying to set up for WordPress now. I'm wondering what the best way to set up permalinks for it would be.

I personally am not a fan of the direct URL, such as
    http://www.sitename.com/pagetitle.html

I also don't really think I need the full date, either.

I thought about creating a Category for each artist I review, and configuring Permalinks such that a URL could look like:
    http://www.sitename.com/artist/albumtitle.html

The problems I'm seeing in my head with that are
    - What happens to artists with two or more words in their name (Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga, A Flock of Seagulls... lol off the top of my head)
    - What about artists with special characters, such as B.o.B or T.I.

    My current non-CMS site has
    http://www.sitename/reviews/music/(year)/artist-albumtitle.php

Obviously, I don't need reviews and music, since the whole site will be both, and I'm not sure about Year (I figured I'd just have the Archive display Years for that filter), but I'm not sure what the best way to incorporate Categories for a music blog are (seems artist would be though) or, with that in mind, the best way to create Permalinks.

Any suggestions? Maybe some current music blogs using WordPress so I can see how they are set up?
