Permalink URLs in support forum

  1. We've just updated the URLs in the support forum to permalink style URLs.

So instead of links like this:

    http://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum.php?id=1
    http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=20000

    They look like this:

    http://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/ideas
    http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-to-install-plugins

    Which is much nicer.

Of course the old links which are scattered around the forums will still work.

If you find anything that seems to be going wrong on the forums or anywhere in wordpress.com with links and URLs behaving badly, please report it to this thread.

I have a question related to this.

I have written 200 odd posts at my blog using the default url option, like http://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum.php?id=1

I now want to change to the permalink style, which I have the option of doing in the administration panel.

The thing is there are numerous inbound links to the posts I have already written, and I don’t want to lose them.

So my question is, if I change to permalinks, will it change the urls of posts already written, or just future ones?

    Thanks

    Mark

  3. Do you mean your own bbPress forum?

If that's the case then changing permalink style isn't a problem.

I'm pretty sure that's the case for your own WordPress blog too.

But this is the wrong place to ask those questions, try the bbPress forums at http://bbpress.org/ or the WordPress.org support forums at http://wordpress.org/
