   I changed the image from a post, replacing it by a new one, but the link to the old image still exits. How can I permanently delete an image?

   Go to media > library > choose what image you want to delete > click Delete Permanently

   That's it

   What if the image doesn't appear in the library but the link still exists?

   Exists where? Have you edited the post and removed the image first before removing from the library? That is the best way. It will still show in Google for a while, and sometimes your browser cache is showing the cached version (before deletion) so try also clearing your browser cache.
