  1. I am a teacher and have a blog/website set up for my class. I do not want anyone other than myself to have access to the content. However, part of the website is called daily entries. This section is where a student in class would go in and write down what we did that day and the homework. I thought the best way to do this would be to create an additional blog that I could link to in my current blog and give students contributor status as a user. However, I am not able to get further than that. I created a separate user; sent email invite (to my daughter for test purposes); clicked the accept button in email; and was taken to wordpress to sign in (which was not possible without an account.

    1. Is there a way to have a student login to post info to blog if they do not have a wordpress account?
    2. Is there a way to display the posts from this other wordpress blog to my free wordpress blog/website?
    3. Is there a better way to go about getting the same result? Which is: students being able to post to website without having control to change, edit or delete content?

Thank you so much for any guidance or suggestions you might be able to give.

The blog I need help with is mrmdailyentries.wordpress.com.

  2. Before I answer your questions I need to have the URL starting with http:// to the blog you are asking about.

  3. essentially there are two blogs: the main one http://gomrm.wordpress.comis where all the students and parents go, but Mr. M Daily Entriesis where I was thinking of letting the students post the daily entries. I would love for them to be able to be seen on my original blog, but don't know if that is possible. Thanks for any help.

  4. 1. Is there a way to have a student login to post info to blog if they do not have a wordpress account?

You could have them add comments, and they don't need an account to do that.

But they must create at least a username only WordPress.com account if they want access to add posts to a WordPress.com blog.

  5. 2. Is there a way to display the posts from this other wordpress blog to my free wordpress blog/website?

No, but you could cross-reference them with a link if you'd like.

  6. 3. Is there a better way to go about getting the same result? Which is: students being able to post to website without having control to change, edit or delete content?

Note that the Contributor role has very limited access to blogs. See http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/ for details.

You might consider trying the P2 theme and using comments if you don't want students to have to create a WordPress.com username only account so they can submit content to the blog directly.

  7. I can't have comments available because then all the students would be making comments (I have 170). We need this section to just be the daily entries. Any other suggestions?

As far as the posting on my website...I planned on making a separate page that would link to the other blog, but was wondering if there might be another way that I was unaware of.
