Photos display smaller on blog than in edit

Photos display small on blog. I used to drag the photo to enlarge it in the edit screen. Then they would stay that size when I did a preview. Now when I preview all photos are small in the blog preview, not the size I want them to be.

The blog I need help with is crochetbird.wordpress.com.

I find nothing in this forum that makes sense to me. I don't know html.

All of the photos on my post have been changed to a stock small size.

In the media photos area there are 3 size settings. I don't see how they apply to the photos I have posted.

Are you saying that the largest size needs to have bigger dimensions?

Really, this is something that used to work easily but I can't see how to change this through the settings.

  4. @crochetambassador, if the image sizes have been modified but they are still connected to the main settings, then the sizes may look different in the editor compared to the front end.

To fix this, you need to disconnect the image from the settings or update the Settings > Media sizes to control the images on the blog. The down side to disconnecting the images is that they may need to be adjusted manually if you ever change themes in the future, so I would recommend trying to adjust the Settings > Media sizes first.

If you would still like to disconnect the images from the media settings, there are two ways to do it. You can do it manually for images by removing the "size-VALUE" name from the HTML by clicking on the image in the visual editor and going to Edit Image > Advanced Settings and removing the "size-VALUE" name from the CSS Classes field. Here is an example of what it looks like: https://cloudup.com/cheNMDVY5UY

Another option is that I can run a script to disconnect all the images from your site at once. This is not a reversible change. Let me know if that sounds like something you might be interested in or if you have any other questions.

Ok, what I didn't understand is how the Settings < media sizes affects the images that are added to the blog.

When I changed the maximum dimensions for medium sized photos in settings > media from 300 x 300 to 1024 x 1024 (what the large is set at), then it worked like it used to work.

For a non-geek that would have gotten me there a lot faster.

    Thanks for your help.

  6. Wonderful! If you have any other questions about images at all, please let me know.
