Photos on front page of suburbia theme

  • Hi,
I am new to word press and would love some help. My first few blogs on the suburbia theme were great- they fed through the first photo of my blog and displayed it in the preview to my blog. However, the last two blogs I have published (over the last 48 hours) do not display any photos. This is really taking away from my blog. any suggestions? I would be very grateful for help (blog is southsidebrunch).

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • You haven’t selected a Featured Image on those posts.

  • Any hints on how to do this?

  • You managed it all the rest of the time. Edit the post and, on the right-hand sidebar of the Edit Post page, click Add Featured Image. Then select from the images uploaded to that post. Then Update the post.

  • Consult the theme description and follow the instructions your find there please. Suburbia description notes http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/suburbia/

On the main page, Suburbia doesn’t display regularly inserted images. Regularly inserted images only display when a post is viewed on its own page – not on the front page.

To have front page image display you need to set a featured image to each post and make each post a sticky post. Note that the size of the featured image does matter. Featured image sizes are critical to display. The featured image works best with images at least 350 by 248 (width, height) – smaller images will not work. Featured images sizes are critical to display.

    Sticky posts > http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/#sticky-posts

If you don’t see the Featured Image module on your Add New or Edit Post page, please make sure you’ve selected Featured Image in your Screen Options. http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options

In the Suburbia theme the “S” on the top left corner is the header image that you can replace with one of your own. The custom header image is 155 by 155 (width, height). That header image can be replaced here > Appearance > Header.

  • Thank you everyone, all fixed now- you are so helpful

  • Hooray! You’re welcome. :)

  • Hello,
I have a similar issue and I was hoping someone could help me. I’ve spent quite a bit of time on this and I’m sure it’s simple but I can’t figure it out – and, I haven’t been able to see an answer posted online.

    My site is:
    http://www.aframereframe.com/
and for some reason the latest two posts show twice – as featured images and below in the sting with all the other posts. What I would l would like is for my site to NOT show the two featured large images (I would like it to look like: southsidebrunch.wordpress.com – per above).

I know that the code to change is in: Appearance > Editor > home.php and I’m hoping someone can give me the correct code to hide the featured images. (Oh, …. Just to clarify, neither of these featured images are ‘stickies’.)

Thank you in advance for any help with this.

    Best regards,
    –Paul
