photos suddenly resizing

  1. Several photos on my blog recently "resized" themselves -- they appeared smaller than the sizes I had set when I published the posts. This happened both to my personal photos and to photos from Wikipedia and NASA Images. But it happened to photos only on certain posts.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and how I can prevent these kind of changes in the future? Thanks.

The blog I need help with is janjuly.wordpress.com.

  2. @janjuly, does the problem go away if you refresh the page in your browser?

If you're still having trouble after trying to refresh the page, could you link to one specific example post and let us know about what size you expect the images to be compared to how they look to you now?

  3. @designsimply: I fixed all the problems photos -- deleted them and inserted them again into the posts at the sizes I had originally set -- before I posted this question, but I don't think refreshing the page would have made a difference.

@timethief: The photos were not huge. I usually use the medium or large size options when inserting photos into posts and I have my media/settings set at standard photos sizes (max. width and height) for the Web.

Re: an earlier reply on this topic: I did not switch themes, so the only thing that may apply is the reference to Media/Settings and "images using classes such as 'size-medium.'" Though I really don't understand the point made there. It would be helpful if someone could explain that more clearly.

I want to make sure that my photos don't suddenly shrink again! Thanks.

The media settings were recently changed to connect the size settings from the dashboard to images on the front end. However, if you did re-insert the images at the same size in the same way you did before, then it should be the same and if the settings were the issue I think you'd still be seeing problems after the re-insert.

Without seeing the problem in action, I can't say for sure what might have happened. If you see the problem happen again or on another post, please post an example link. Screenshots can often help if you can capture a good one showing the issue.
