PICTURES NOT SHOWING UP!

  1. I have a couple posts with personal pictures that I took from my camera, uploaded onto my computer, then uploaded onto wordpress. The pictures are showing up as a broken square on my blog. But when I go to edit the post, the pictures are fine. Please help!

The blog I need help with is lovamy.wordpress.com.

  2. hi amyhou,

could you provide a link to your post? or did you delete the blog. your profile links to this: "amyloves.wordpress.com is no longer available."

  3. Oops, I changed my blog address but here's one of my posts with the problem:

    http://lovamy.wordpress.com/2011/10/09/missing-home/

  4. Yes everything's still in my media library. Those posts have been deleted and I've changed my blog. This is the post that I'm having trouble with: http://lovamy.wordpress.com/2011/10/09/missing-home/

When I go to edit it, all the pictures are still there but when I look at it on my blog, the pictures are missing.

  5. I'm seeing three photos in this post. Where there supposed to be more? Are you getting this problem when you view that post alone or only on the front page of your blog?

  6. I checked the first image and it's a very large file: width 4320px, size 4.2MB. There's no point uploading 4320px wide images when your theme displays them at a maximum of 545px. If you have a slow connection or a temporary connection problem, the browser may time out before loading all the images. In general, you should make copies of your originals, downsize them in an image editing application to the right pixel width, and upload and insert those copies. This way you save uploading time, you reduce the loading time of your page, you don't waste your storage space, plus you get better quality too - see here:

  7. Yes I actually went back, deleted the photos, and re-added them again. That seemed to do the trick but I don't want it to happen again as this happened out of the blue. I had the problem when I viewed the post alone and on the front page of my blog, but not when I was in edit mode for the post.

  8. Just as a point of interest - this exact thing happened to me today too, the only way I could find to sort it was to do as you have done; delete them and then reload them on. It looks like some kind of glitch

  10. @amyhou: I checked a Google cached version of your page, and it's as airodyssey observed. The images wouldn't show in the new blog because at first their URLs were those of the blog you deleted. If you still couldn't see them after you uploaded and inserted them to the new blog, then you were looking at a version your browser had cached.

@dianedavies10: So your case is not the exact same thing. Your image was uploaded to your blog from the start, not to a different blog that was deleted (I checked a cached version of your blog too). Most likely you deleted the image from your Media Library.
