Pingbacks

  1. I generally understand how pingbacks work. However, when a pingback waiting for approval is sitting in my comments section I'm not quite sure what to do with it. If I approve it, I'm assuming that means if a person is reading the blog that linked to mine they can follow the link to my blog. What happens if I disapprove it? It's probably obvious but just want to make sure I understand.

Thanks in advance for help in clearing this up.

The blog I need help with is teeveebee.wordpress.com.

  2. Nothing will happen. You are not compelled to post pingbacks and I regularly delete pingbacks from sites that I don't think my readers will benefit by clicking into.

  3. If you wish you can disable pingbacks and/or disable self pings.

For published posts you go to Posts > All Posts and bulk edit them to uncheck "Allow Pings".Then what you can do is disable all future pingbacks on each and every post and page you create.

Under the editor box scroll down until you find the “Discussion Module”
    locate and disable:
    Discussion
__Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page.

  4. If the Discussion module is not displaying then go to > Screen options on the top right hand corner of your Admin page and include the "Discussion" module.
