Pixelated Gravatar - why is it scaling weird?

My Gravatar profile picture has never looked pixelated on my blog until now. When I click on it, it says the size is 200 x 200 pixels and is scaled to 276 x 276. Why is it doing that? I know for certain that my images are way bigger than 200 x 200 pixels when I upload them. I tried changing my picture but the same thing is happening. Is this a known problem that is being fixed or is there some way I can fix that? Thanks.

The blog I need help with is twentysomethingsimple.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi there,

I looked at your blog but didn't see your Gravatar there. Can you send me a link to a post or page where you're seeing the pixelated Gravatar image? I'd be happy to take a look. :)

I took it down because I was mad at it, but I just added it back. Thanks!

  4. I checked it out, and it looked pixelated when the image first started loading. But by the time it finished loading, it looked okay to me — here's what I see: https://cloudup.com/c5UEHWAzjbr

Is it still pixelated for you? If so, can you make a screenshot of what you see? You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service like Snaggy. Thanks!

On both my work and personal computers, this is how it looks: http://snag.gy/J0J3m.jpg

I took that when the page was done loading. I even refreshed it and the same thing happened. I'm running Firefox version 25.0.1 if that makes a difference. It never did this to me until recently.

It starts out small and pixelated while it's loading and it finishes large and pixelated. I had my boyfriend look at it from his PC (he's using Chrome), and it's doing the same thing for him.

  7. Yikes, I see what you mean! Thanks for the additional details and the screenshot. I've reported this to our team to take a look. Please stay tuned while we work on it. :)

In the meantime, you may want to try out the Gravatar Widget instead of the Gravatar Profile Widget. I did some testing and that one should work better on all screens. (If that one is pixelated for you, too, please let me know and we'll check that out!)

The Gravatar Widget doesn't include your profile information, but it does display your Gravatar. If you'd like, you can add the information from your profile in a Text Widget to go along with it.

Thanks for the help! Will it resolve itself automatically once the error is fixed?

  9. The widget should fix itself once we find the root of the problem and patch that up. If you need to do anything more to fix it after that, I'll let you know. :) But I don't have an exact timeline for when we'll have it fixed, so please stay tuned while we work on it!

  10. Hi again—thanks for your patience on this. Wanted to thank you again for this report, and let you know the "blurry" Gravatar image in the Gravatar Profile Widget is now fixed.
