please help me locate my wp-content/plugins directory

    http://blog.addthis.com/?p=32 says i can add AddThis WordPress Plugin (drop-down version)
    by uploading it into my wp-content/plugins directory.
    and i really want to do this.

    can you pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese help me locate my wp-content/plugins directory?

    Sorry. Can't do it. You don't have one.

    We don't upload stuff here. The plugins you see are for people with independent blogs that use the wp software.

    You can add the html code, not javascript, for the add-this button either manually on each post or on a widget. When on a widget or a post, the permalink has to be clicked so it shows the exact title for the add-this button. But it won't do the drop down. It will go to a new page. But check out what timethief wrote:

    But for the feed button where in the code it says -- YOUR_BLOGNAME.wordpress.com

    Make sure to write your blog name.

    But what if you have a purchased domain name? Does this make any difference?

    The fact that you have a domain name makes absolutely no difference at all when it comes to plugins. WordPress.com blogs do not have plugins. You cannot upload them into wp.com blogs whether or not they are on your domain because we have no ftp uploading.

    If plugins are not essential for your blog then you can purchase domain mapping from wordpress.com for it http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/10/domain-mapping/

    But if you do want plugins then you will need hire a web host and download the software from http://wordpress.org

    Then I go to the akismet page and see these instructions:

    1. Download plugin and unzip.
    2. Upload the plugin file to your WordPress plugins directory inside of wp-content.
    3. Activate it from the plugins menu inside of WordPress.
    4. Enter your API key.
    5. Forget that spam was ever a problem.

    Just following orders here...... or just trying to.

    I suppose you're happy user of the web application WordPress downloaded from "community owned" site at wordpress.org, correct?

    you see, Akismet is commercial service which is free for personal use. regardless of its usage terms everyone has to register a user account on the wordpress.com (thus increasing its userbase) just get a so call 'API key', which activates plugin said.

    forget that spam was ever a problem, forget about some legit comments too.

    I want to add the Live Calendar plug-in to my blog. I have just downloaded the file. But now I need to paste the folder in the 'wp-contents/plugins' folder. Can anybody please guide me regarding where will I find this folder???

    We don't have a plug-in folder here at wordpress.com. That's a plug-in for a self hosted blog (one where you download/install the software from wordpress.com on your own webhost).
