PLEASE STOP FLOODING - WordPress is down

  1. WordPress is currently experiencing some technical difficulties. All we can do it hope for the staff to fix it.

    Please stop flooding the forums.

  2. The problem is, people don't even know they're posting in the forums; they think they are contacting staff via their Help button. They don't know that the posts end up here.

  3. Eh. People who REALLY need help wont be noticed if this goes on.

    I have my answer now, perhaps rather than posting stop flooding here WordPress could just send an email out for something like this? add a comment to the home screen?

  6. Please announce there is a problem on main WordPress page. I've been reading people are thinking it's an error on their side and messing with their computers. Please update when error has been corrected. Thanks for your help! Love WordPress!!

  7. I'm not a WordPress staff, so I cannot sticky this thread or send emails. I wonder when a staff will get on.

  9. I wish someone would! Until I got on here to check around I was going crazy wondering if it was something I did on my end. I'm sure their busy trying to figure it out but an update would be cool :)

  10. I'm certain staff are aware of the issues and are working on them. There is no time during the day when there are not staff awake and monitoring things.

    @tennisfilmproduction, this is what a support forum is for. People have issues and they post to get help or find out what is going on. Nothing unusual here, and these people ARE wanting help. They "REALLY" need help. The volunteers here will sort through all the posts and answer the questions in due time.

  11. Yes, I totally agree. But what most people do is they post BEFORE looking at the forums. I guess it's too late, but atleast SOME people will read this before opening up a new form.

    And if the same topic is flooded, people who have a different problem won't be recognized.

  12. You aren't going to change that behavior. I've been here for going on 6 years and it has always been this way. You accept it and do what you can. Thankfully system-wide things like this happen only rarely.

  14. I don't care if WordPress is free...a notice on the home page or an email with a quick update about current issues is something I feel users deserve.

    Been wracking my brain for the last hour (restarting computers, using different browsers). Even lost my work at one point because save button wasn't responding.

    Everyone, keep flooding the forums . WP needs to know that keeping users in the dark is not ok when issues arise that make the site unusable.

    I would have planned something else for my Sunday evening...

  16. @tennisfilmproduction - so you started two duplicate threads to tell people not to post here - so you yourself are guilty of spamming up the support forum - get used to the fact that many people don't read the forum to see if there is a problem matching what they are having trouble with -

    Do you see staffers in the forums, responding to threads? No. Just us volunteers. Do we have better things to do that deflect your hostility? Yes, we do.

    Thank you for answering questions on the forum. Your help is greatly appreciated. My frustration lies with WordPress remaining silent while users scramble. I would have loved a mass email from them 3 hours ago telling me to step away from the computer to see the Dark Knight and leave my bloggin' til morn'

  21. I find it a bit ironic that this happened when I post one of my bi-yearly problems. At least that is about as often as it seems to me. It's like a power outage, we all want the power back on.

  22. Huh? For one, I wasn't aware VOLUNTEERS were on the job, and two, I do feel something should be said. People are going to end up screwing their computers up because they're thinking the errors are their fault. I'm still looking for an update to the situation and can't find one. With this being my 4 th comment...does this mean I'm flooding?

  23. The staff of WP have not yet posted anything about this issue. However, when they do, I'm sure it'll be fixed asap.

    Flooding is when you spam. Commenting in replies are not considered as flooding. Flooding is when you comment or post rapidly, and when you spam the same topics, so you are completely safe.

  25. It might be helpful for you to put somewhere exactly WHAT technical issues are known and being addressed. You know, for those of us who think our issue is distinct from the problem being that they are allegedly attempting to address.

    I say allegedly because we have to take you at your word that they are addressing a known issue. I'm willing to do that, but you gotta help me out by providing more information about what issues they are attempting to address.

  26. @swedishpancakes Sorry for not providing it. You're right.
    The problem causes for WordPress users to not be able to post photos/media/polls, link websites, dashboard menu buttons, and none of the functions on the right hand side of the individual posts work (tags and few other buttons). {Taken from another form}
    These are the problems that I know so far.

  27. My problem.... My image loader is not responding and it's telling me I've used 3.4 mb and have used all my space. I even went in and deleted images, which I really didn't have to.

  28. Volunteers know as much as you do. Patience is a virtue, incessant whining isn't going to help get the problems fixed any sooner nor will it make staff post an update any sooner.

  30. Well, I think Tennis just proved that he knows more than the common person. This turned from a curiously helpful into a very helpful thread in three seconds flat.

    I'd add to the list an inability to change the custom link of a post that you have created. It seems like a related problem to the slew of usability problems that appear to be a common thread.
