Plug-In's for Movie Rating/Review Widget/Plug-in

  1. Hi there,

I'm wondering where the section to manage plug-in's is located on the user admin page? I'm hoping to install some type of movie review/rating widget or plug-in and am not sure how I go about doing this.

This site makes it sound fairly simple, but maybe this is for wordpress.org vs. wordpress.com?

I suppose what I'm also wondering is if there are more options for widgets than just the ones listed on the admin page.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is justaddchica.wordpress.com.

  2. I'm wondering where the section to manage plug-in's is located on the user admin page?

There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs like the one linked to your username and we cannot install individual plugins or third party themes into them. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.

If you wish to have the ability to upload plugins then your option is to hire a web host and get a free software install from WordPress.ORG and self host it.

In addition to the widgets found here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/topic/widgets-sidebars/ there are many other widgets we can use provided the are pure HTML. There are security restrictions on Javascript and iframe codes as one incidence of bad code would bring down many blogs on this multiuser blogging platform. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/ However, for Flash widgets some can be translated into gigya code and posted. http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/07/22/gigya-shortcode-3-widgets/

  4. You can use the built in Poll's to let your visitors rate movies you have reviewed

  5. Thanks for the links TT

  6. Thanks for the catch.

  7. Thank you very much for your responses. :)

Auxclass - I took a look through polls and ratings, and was wondering how exactly a person would add the ratings in to a post to appear as a star-style rating to a movie etc.

    Thank you!

  8. I have only done one Poll so not the best authority - but you are a bit limited on the display - you could have a series of stars for the vote on ratings by your visitors.

If you want to show your rating as a star system then you would need to put the star graphic in (either an ASCII special character or regular graphic) somewhere in the Post - you could put a box around them by putting the stars in a Table and add a border.

  9. Thank you! :)

  10. You be welcome & good luck
