Plugins on Book Lite

  1. Hi!
I can't find where I search and download plugins on my Book Lite themed blog. It's not on my dashboard like on others WordPress blog I have in other themes.

Hope someone can help me, I believe it's not a difficult problem!
    Thank you!

The blog I need help with is emnossacasa.com.

  2. You can't use plugins on a blog hosted at WordPress.com http://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/plugin

  3. Thank you, raincoaster!
I had just known about the difference between wordpress.com and wordpress.org. I didn't know that.

Can I turn my wordpress.com blog into a wordpress.org one?

  4. Can I turn my wordpress.com blog into a wordpress.org one?

Indeed. Check out this related help page for more info:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org

Before you switch, may I ask what plugins you were looking to add? WordPress.com actually has quite a few pre-installed plugins for you to use already. Maybe you can do what you want with one of those?

  5. Thank you, designsimply!

Now reading about the Guided Transfer I also think it's not the best option.

All I wanted was to put one soundtrack music on my blog and keep the music playing during the navigation without stopping it when clicking on other page.

I saw there is a music widget on my Book Lite theme, but it has to be purchased and it's not clear if the music goes on during the navigation and I read there are some free plugins that makes it happen.

But if I have to purchase the Guided Transfer anyway it's the same thing I wanted to avoid in the first place.

    Do you have any suggestion?
    Thank you again!

  6. There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we bloggers cannot install any plugins.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/

There is no upgrade you can purchase that changes anything at all stated here http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ FTP access, and plugins are available only for VIP bloggers http://vip.wordpress.com/our-services/ or for those with WordPress.ORG installs.

The WordPress player does not provide autoplay music. You can try an alternative player: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/12/05/alternative-audio-players/

Please note: autoplay is a major irritant for some people (myself included). Many of us will click out never to return again if we experience someone else's musical taste and have not been given an option to listen or not. I never return to such blogs.

  7. Hi, timethief.
I don't like blogs with music either, but it's for a very specific case.
Thank you for your tip of autoplay music.

I guess there isn't another way but purchasing the Space Upgrade.
Thank you all for your help!

  8. You're welcome and best wishes.

  9. All I wanted was to put one soundtrack music on my blog and keep the music playing during the navigation without stopping it when clicking on other page.

There isn't a way to do that on WordPress.com.

I read there are some free plugins that makes it happen.

WordPress.com has pre-selected plugins and you cannot install them yourself, but if you could find a plugin like that then you could set it up if you did switch to WordPress.org. You don't need to purchase the Guided Transfer option, you can do it yourself! But you would need to use the volunteer-based forums at http://wordpress.org/support/ to get support if you don't want to purchase Guided Transfer. The community is great! But it is volunteer-based, so if you ran into trouble, you'd need to see if someone would be willing to help you out for free over in the other forum. :)

You might start out by searching the plugin directory at http://wordpress.org/plugins/ or asking for help with your plugin search at http://wordpress.org/support/

On WordPress.com, you don't need an upgrade to play music, but you do need the Space Upgrade if you want to upload mp3s to a WordPress.com blog yourself. If you have a link to one available on the internet, you can use the regular audio player:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/

It won't continuously play between different page loads though! For that, you'd probably need a more custom setup like a WordPress.org install with some custom code added.

  10. Ok! This last link helped me a lot!
Thank you, thank you! My hero!

  11. Cheers :)
