I'm wanting to point the domain I purchased through wordpress to squarespace. I'm hoping a happiness engineer or staff member can set this up for me as I am unable to manage A records from the DNS manager.
I would simply transfer to another registrar, but my 60 days aren't up yet and I would like this to happen asap.
The domain is http://www.analogue01.com

Transaferring rehsitration to another registrar is not required. The nameservers control where traffic for the domain goes using DNS. If you are moving from WordPress.com to a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, you can enter the nameservers provided by your web hosting company to switch your domain to their hosting service. If you’ve registered your domain through WordPress.com and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers
Thank you, but squarespace specifically requires that I not change the nameservers and that I instead change the A record.

Have you tried adding the A record to your Custom DNS panel?
Yeah. It tells me that "A records are for subdomains only. We reserve the mapped domain's A records."
Yes, you should be able to do an A record for www, but that's all we can offer. If you need more, it looks like you'll need to transfer your domain to another registrar.

I guess I'll just have to wait out the 60 days for the rest of it.

PS I'm curious: would it be possible to (CNAME) point example.com at http://www.example.com and have www pointing at squarespace?
Nevermind. I finally got a reply to my support request and figured out how to pull it off. Thanks to all wordpress peoples for the help!
