I got my domain name through WordPress and am using Go daddy for my host. I have updated the servernames on WordPress but it still says that my domain isn't pointed to Go Daddy's servers. I have been trying to figure out what else to do for hours. Go Daddy says I still need to "update the A record"???
The blog I need help with is snippetsofwhimsy.com.
Please double-check with GoDaddy that these are the correct name servers:
MNS01.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
MNS02.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
There isn't usually an "M" before the "N" so it would be a good idea to confirm the name servers with them, and then make any corrections as needed.
If those name servers are correct and if for some reason you do need to update an A record individually, you can do that in your Domain Administration control panel. If you let me know what IP you need the A record pointed to I'd be glad to help as well.

I changed the nameservers to the ones that GoDaddy sent me:
ns17.domaincontrol.com
ns18.domaincontrol.com
and also updated the A record but it still did not work.
I got a message in my WordPress account that said to change the nameservers to ones that end in wordpress.com. That did not work either.
Do the nameservers need to be GoDaddy's or WordPress'? I am wondering if I did not update the A record correctly? I know I entered the correct IP but it also asked for me to enter the "hostname".snippetsofwhimsy.com I just used some website that told me what my hostname was and put that in there. Is that not correct, what should the hostname be?
Hope I am making sense- I wish I had some idea of what the heck I was doing. Didn't know what I was getting into... Thanks for your help!

When you're moving to a third-party host, it is normally enough to update your name servers. Do you know why GoDaddy is telling you to modify the A record as well? To what exactly are they asking you to change it?
Could you show me the exact instructions they gave you?
Have you tried just updating the name servers and not touching the A record?

That message is intended for users with a WordPress.com site, not for those who are using another host.

If you're keeping your site hosted here at WordPress, they should be the WordPress name servers. If you're hosting your site through GoDaddy, they should be GoDaddy's name servers.
I'm having a similar issue. My domain is owned by wordpress.com and the website is on go daddy. I've change the IP and NM numbers on the wordpress.com to no avail. Please help.
heatherhuntdc - it looks like your domain is pointing to your self-hosted site. Did you get this sorted out or do you still need assistance?
