Portfolio theme help

  1. In hopes of further enhancing my current theme (Portfolio) to make it resemble my old tumblr, I ended up adding widgets to the right side of my blog. I purchased the Custom Design feature too, just so I can tweak more stuff (although CSS gives me headaches).

    My problem is that the space that holds my posts are too small and I don't know how to go about it. I'd love to have at least 900px wide. Someone please teach me how to fix it. :(

    The blog I need help with is yjanas.com.

  2. Hi, I'm not seeing any widgets on your main (blog) page.

    In portfolio, the maximum width of the container (content) is set at 860px originally, so 900 is only 40px more than that. Add the following to set the maximum width to 900px.

    #container {
    max-width: 900px;
    }

    If you add the sidebar back in, then add the following instead and enter 900 in the Content Width field below the CSS edit field. This gives a content width, with the browser window wider than 1210px of about 860px.

    #container {
    	max-width: 1210px;
    }

    aside[role="complementary"] {
    	width: 18%;
    }

    #wrapper {
    	width: 78%;
    }
  3. I just added the sidebar back. Thank you!

    Another question though. How do I change the header size to fit the width of the content and sidebar combined?

  4. Hi there, to make the header image full width in Portfolio, add the following CSS at Appearance > Customize > CSS.

    header[role="banner"] .branding {
        width: 100%;
    }

    You will see when you add that, that your header image will go full width. You will likely want to create another header image and crop it more tightly top and bottom. The theme maximum width is 1100px, so I would suggest creating a header image in that width. Then go back to Appearance > Theme Options and upload it as you did the other image in Logo and Featured Slider.

  5. Thank you! :)

  6. You are welcome.
