Post Deleted but leaves a dead link on home page

  • Hi. I deleted the sample home post, but it did not delete completely, and didn’t go to trash. It shows up on the front page of my blog as a dead link to an extra home page. It isn’t listed in the trash folder, so I can’t restore it to fix it. How can I either restore it, or get rid of the dead link? Thanks.

    It seems you deleted ‘Hello world’ post that’s why you’re seeing this problem.
    It will disappear automatically when you’ll publish your first post. Have a good start :)

  • The first Home tab isn’t a dead link, it’s the very live built-in link to your blog front. The second Home tab is the link to the page you have created.

    To make your blog front display that page, you need to go to Settings > Reading, click the option “Front Page Displays” > “A static page“, select the page from the pulldown, scroll down and click Save Changes.
    To get rid of the redundant Home tab in your menu, you need to create and activate a custom menu. Instructions here:
