Hi,
I am wondering if it is at all possible to have a public blog (visible to all) but a ristricted comments section (where only the people you invite can VIEW and POST comments on your post).
If this is possible that would be very nice!

No, not really. You can either have the whole blog private or restrict comments to those who are logged in (but that would include most wordpress.com users). Sorry
