Post Ratings

Am I the only one who thinks its really rude for someone to go through and rate people's posts a 1 star? I know that the "rating" feature, is all kinda arbitrary and doesn't mean much, however I have come across multiple people's blogs where it was clear that someone just went through each of the posts to rate a 1 and be a jerk (and in those cases I go through and give them all a 5 to try to balance out for that loser). I just looked at my blog and saw the same thing happen.

It's all anonymous so no one knows who rated what. People think anonymity gives them the right to be rude.

And yes, I know the easy solution would just be to remove the feature from the blog.

The blog I need help with is yourdailybailey.com.

Just realized you can go through and delete the total ratings. Good to know assuming that the entries only had that one rating.

  3. You need to take the rough with the smooth, though I would be upset if I received a 1 star rating! If I don't like a post I simply don't bother to rate it.

  4. I don't have ratings turned on. Or the voting things either. "Like" or Comment ot nothing - so you get three choices if you read my blog! LOL Am I being too tough? I just can't see the point in all this rating, voting, liking, commenting - makes my head spin!

I have witnessed mean spirited and even malicious ratings on social networking sites. I don't use ratings on my blogs and I never will. My stats and comments tell me all I need to know.

  6. @TT - glad it isn't just me! :)

  7. Everyone has their opinions and my posts are just that - mine. People are free to rate how they feel and it will not offend me. Respect my opinions, and I respect yours! :)

TT, just wondering... how can someone on a scale from one to five "maliciously rate it? I was just wondering, I dont mean it at all in a negative way.
I havent had a problem with ratings. I dont rate posts, if I like it, I push the like button, or comment.

I'm too scared to have that feature on. I feel like 1 star ratings will take a huge bite of my ego. :D

I have seen people have personality clashes on asocial networking site in a forum. Then what I saw is one of them go and vote down the other person's well researched well written engaging post that deserved a 4 - 5 by giving it a 1 rating. That was a mean spirited and malicious act. Admin agreed with and removed the malicious rating. (BTW I was not one of the parties involved in the personality clash.)
