Posterous Import Problem

  1. Hello, I am trying to import from Posterous. I have downloaded from Posterous and I have a .xml file but when I upload it I get the following error:
    " Sorry, ther has been an error
    The file is not an xml file. Please see instructions for downloading and using the Posterous backup file."

    I'm following the instructions and I've re-downloaded the file 3 times and it doesn't work.
    Any ideas?

  2. You cannot upload a .zip file. It must be an xml file.

  3. Thanks but it's not a zip file. It's a .xml file. Its looks exactly as it is supposed to based on the instructions:
    wordpress_export_1.xml

  5. i am having problems with the same situation. i have the wordpress_export_1.html file from within the unzipped folder from the posterous export.

    i also tried to import into my wordpress site using wordpress importer tool. i get the following error for each blog post on posterous...

    Warning: checkdate() expects parameter 1 to be long, string given in /nfs/c01/h13/mnt/14254/domains/roxstyle.com/html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3859
    Failed to import Post “Name of Post”

    i added the posterous import plugin, and tried that and it just hangs.

    roxstyle, that's not a WordPress.com blog. You'll need to ask for help with importing a self-hosted WordPress.org blog at http://wordpress.org/support/

    I'm still not able to import from posterous. I know that I need to upgrade my operating system. Do you think that could be the problem?
