I agree with the no advertising on the blog but If I post articles on the blog, is it in the rules that a little bio is included at the end of the article.

You can place your own biographical information with an external link in these places:
(1) on your About page; or
(2) in a text widget placed in your sidebar.
You can place a line of text including a link to the biographical information pertaining to anyone you are writing about at the end of any blog post.
Is this what you are asking?
I don't understand why you would want to place your own biographical information at the end of each post. To me this seems like redundant overkill but perhaps I have misunderstood you. If so then please post again and clarify what you are asking.
If you put links to the same external sites in posts the that could or would be taken as using the blog to drive traffic to a third-party site. That breaks the ToS.
Ahhh thanks for stepping in Podz. I hadn't considered this aspect at all as the only ones I'd seen done this way were links to the resumes and credentials of academics working at universities, who were blogging here.

Wow, that's an interesting issue. I link to Gawker and BoingBoing a fair bit, but not thorugh any attempt to deliberately drive traffic there; it's just because I want to give credit to the sources of my material. And hey, they're great sites! But no, I'm not getting bribed by them. So is this a problem?
No. The problem is that when Podz or another keymaster says something we shouldn't tag on the end of the post. However, I goofed by not sending Podz a feedback instead of posting to the forum and now we have a parade. Thus the likelihood of the original posting party seeing the DEFINITIVE MESSAGE as opposed to opinions is lowered.
Gawker and Boing Boing aren't selling anything, right? Well suppose you were linking at the end of each of your articles to an advertisement by company selling a product or service (third party). Suppose the only reason you had a free blog here and everywhere else that had free blogs was just for the purpose of drumming up third party business via linking to an advertsiement to purchase a product or service. That would be against the WordPress Terms of Service (ToS). Persisting in doing so can lead to your blog being terminated.

I think they both sell t-shirts, but it's not really what they're about. But I get it, thanks.
It's like people in a forum whose signature is nothing but a "click here for cheap mortgages" link, right? I'm all for blocking that.
