   I'm just getting into blogging and think have a daily blog that basically just chronicles my life at college (pretty cliché, I know haha) would be cool. I have two questions.

   1) Is posting photos I get from other places legal if I also give the source? Do I specifically need to get permission from the creator first?

   2) If a post was found to be improper in terms of DMCA, what would happen? Would I simply get asked to take something down or would I get sued?

   This blog is almost entirely just for me, and I won't be having much (if any) traffic, but I wanna make sure I know the deal!

   (1) Whether or not the author of any original digital work has posted a copyright notice on their site or the work itself is irrelevant. It does not change the fact that they hold the copyright to their works and it cannot be re-published unless or until their permission has been given. When it comes to free image sites always read the Terms of Use and comply with them.

   (2) WordPress.com has a Terms of Service that we agree to in order to blog here and it progibits us from posting text or images that violate copyright. When responding to a DMCA complaint it's up to Staff to choose to warn you and ask you to take down such material, to remove it themeselves, or to suspend or even delete the entire blog.
