Posts Not Showing Up on Reader Page

  1. Hi,

I have searched the forums pages extensively and still can't seem to resolve my problem, so sorry if this has been asked before.

The last few posts I have made have not appeared on the Reader page/topics listings once published. My blog is fairly new but at first, everything was showing up. I have found a few other queries about this but none of the answers have worked/been relevant to me.

Yes, my posts are public. No, I am not using more than 2 categories and/or 10 tags.Yes, my tags and categories are all relevant to the post. No, I am not changing the time and date published several times (I read your post can be 'blocked' from the list for this). I just can't seem to find a solution!

Can anyone offer a solution? If it helps, these are two of my posts that never appeared (and as a result, had a very low view count in comparison to my other posts):

Thanks in advance for any help!

The blog I need help with is morethangreens.wordpress.com.

  2. Posts are displayed in the order of their original datestamps and under the most popular categories/tags on Topics (global tags) Pages. As there are so many posts being published every moment of the day the display under the most popular categories/tags Topics (global tags) Pages is a randomized display.

  3. Thanks for your reply. I know they are displayed in order but I used to go to the 'reader' page every time I published a post and see mine, even if it was a few posts down. Now they do not show up at all, even when I scroll down several posts to the approximate time mine was published.

I have a vegetarian blog, so they always showed under that category (all posts are tagged as such) but I checked others (eg. baking) when applicable and my posts were not showing at all.

This has been the case for at least my last four posts and I have had very few views on my blog for the past few days.

Does your response mean that this is merely unlucky and it's not actually a problem with my posts? It just seems weird that they always showed up until the last few days.

  4. Hi guys

Sarah, I am having the exact same issue. My posts are simply not appearing in the reader and this has happened right after the reader was rolled out. My readership has dropped right down.

    Please help !

    Thanks heaps all.

  5. This is the best info I have found so far (from http://en.support.wordpress.com/topics/ under "Missing Posts")

<i>1. You are using too many categories or tags. In most cases, there’s no need to assign more than a handful of tags per post.<b>If you use more than ten tags (and categories, total), your posts will not appear on topic pages</b>(because you don’t want to see irrelevant content showing up there, and neither do we).</i>

I thought it was max 10 tags plus max 2 categories but it's max both combined!

This helped with some posts, however, most have 10 or less tags and categories and some still don't show up. Maybe it's just unlucky...

  6. Oh, that's embarrassing... please ignore the html coding that I obviously did very wrong... Haha!

I was just trying to post this quote:

(Wish you could preview before sending your post!)

  7. No worries Sarah.

I will try reducing my tags and see if it works, having said that I have never had issues before :(

  8. Good luck to you too.

I hope they fix the issue soon :(

  9. After you reduce the total combined number of Categories and Tags on your posts it will take time before the system updates and your posts are displaying.

  10. I am having the same problem. I have only four tags on my posts, and only one category. I am happy to make changes if needed, but I am not sure what I can do?
http://www.blurbmyenthusiasm.com. This started happening after I upgraded my domain, jst FYI, if that matters.

    Hoping there is a fix??

I have a similar issue. My latest post does turn up in the topics pages, but does not show up in the Reader tab. I even checked with a second account that's subscribed to my blog -- previous posts show up in Reader, but this latest one doesn't. I tried logging out, clearing my cache/cookies, and logging back in again, and it's still not there.

The post is http://unlikelyexplanations.com/2012/05/20/how-to-survive-a-solar-eclipse/. It has one category and four tags.

FYI, I had a hunch that editing my post might somehow ping something and get it to show up in the reader. I tried that (I just added an extra newline at the end), and it worked.
