Premium Themes (not available)

  1. Hello - I found a premium theme that I am interested in online that appears to be made for WordPress. Here is a link: http://themeforest.net/item/business-maker-retina-ready-corporate-wp-theme/3808559?ref=sciita

My question is how to upload this theme into my wordpress site, as when I click on premium themes within the wordpress site it doesn't have the theme I want.

    Thank you,
    Nicholas

The blog I need help with is hpconservation.com.

  2. Hi Nicholas,

Welcome to WordPress.com! WordPress.com doesn't allow custom themes or plugins for security purposes. WordPress.com is the fully-hosted version where you don't have to worry about the technical parts of running a website and focus on your actual site.

WordPress.org is the self-hosted version that you install/maintain on your own hosting platform. Some more of the differences can be found at this link: WordPress.com and WordPress.org

If you're interested is working with WordPress.org instead, we have a few hosts we suggest to start with at http://get.wp.com/hosting . Personally, I've had the most experience with Bluehost.

If you have any other questions, please let me know. Cheers!

  3. thank you for the help - problem is that I purchased my domain name through wordpress.com thinking I would be able to upload a custom theme there. Is there any way to transfer the domain to wordpress.org?
    Thanks

  4. Hi,

WordPress.org isn't a service, but only the software used. You can choose the hosting company of your choice (we have a few options listed at http://get.wp.com/hosting/ , personally, I have used Bluehost before).

Once you have your account setup there, you can change your name servers to point to the new host.

Or, after 60 days, you can transfer the domain name to a different registrar. The 60-day requirement is set by the governing body that oversees domain names.

If you have any other questions, please let me know. Cheers!
