Preview Themes before applying?

  1. Hello folks!

I was wondering is there a way to preview a theme before applying it? You know, a sample blog with a particular theme applied? As for now, a single click would directly change my current theme. Either I'm blind or perhaps this feature is not available yet?

The reason I'm asking for this is perhaps to see how a blockquote, ordered/unordered list would look like, or to check whether my images would have any padding/border or any decorations around it, etc etc.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. That's not possible, but there is a screenshot for each theme, and if you browse around the site you'll find blogs with the themes that you like.

  3. Thank you for the kind reply donncha.
I was just wondering will this feature be implemented in the future or not.

    Thanks again :)

  4. I, too, would like a preview. The screenshots are just not big enough for my old eyes.

  5. It's been suggested that a theme review site be created with a theme viewer of some sort. It's on my to do list along with everything else.

  6. Would it be possible to get the thumbnail screen shots bigger? and ideally a note under each one as to if it is 1) fixed width and 2) custom image header capable?

Doesn't this work as well? Or aren't all MU themes in there?

  8. That site is still coming up. There's a number of themes still missing from there. I don't know about the ones we have here at WP.com and considering that most of the themes we have here are widgeted and they have not a whole lot of them there, I'm sure some are missing. It is a good resource though if you need to find a theme for a specific purpose. That's where I got my latest theme and I'll probably go there looking for my next one since I'm already having issues with it.

I discussed this with a staff member a few weeks ago. His opinion was that they would rather like us to investagate the themes instead of just reading off a review sheet for them. I don't know if that was official or not though.

Another good site is wpthemes.info. :)

  9. I am trying to select a theme and they come up without pictures. ie just a red cross in
a small box in top corner. i'm using IE as browser.

  10. Have you forced your browser to clear? Hold down ctrl key and simultaneously click F5. If that doesn't work then you could try logging out and logging in again.
P.S. I don't understand why you are tagging onto this old thread. The issues don't seem to be directly related to my way of thinking.

  11. Sorry about that timethief but its my first time here and the heading seemed to be the most appropriate. Tried using Firefox with similar results, boxes there but greyed out

  12. @panpete
I'm afraid I can't help you. Why this is happening is a mystery to me. I simply click on a new theme in my test blog and change them like I change my clothes.
I see that you changed from the default theme to green marinee without difficulty so I see no way to help you. I'm afraid you'll have to use the feedback button on the top left of your dashboard and request staff help.

  13. Thanks for trying. I'll try again tomorrow.

  14. Try clearing your browser cache and doing a forced reload of the page. If you're using IE, then when it asks you if you want to view unsecure content, click on 'yes' as that's the pictures trying to load.
