   I've noticed that lately it's been a total pain in the ass to get an accurate URL out of a post before it's published. For those of us using Getsociallive (which SHOULD be everyone, hello!) we need the actual URL, not the "dumb" URL of http://raincoaster.com/?p=6864 or whatever. If you hit Save as Draft, then you get a proper link BUT:

   If the title is short enough, you can usually copy it as one line, but if it's longer than about four short words you cannot copy the entire URL and have to copy the first part, the http://raincoaster.com part, and then click Edit on the permalink to get the rest of the code, which you then add. It took me DAYS to figure out that workaround.

   Can we get a fix on this? I'd much rather be able to use the GetSocial code before the post goes live. You used to be able to get it from Preview Post, but now that link goes to http://raincoaster.com/?p=6864&preview=true which is, for GetSocial purposes, useless.

   The blog I need help with is raincoaster.com.

   That's odd rain, because I've only ever gotten the preview=true link (I think). What about using the Post Permalink, which appears just under the title of the Post in the Editor?

   It's glitchy now: sometimes it's a number, sometimes it's the wordy, pretty URL BUT as I said, if it's longer than four words, it's often broken up and looks like

   http://theshebeenclub.com/2010/04/28/but-i-did-not-…ot-the-devotee/

   Instead of

   http://theshebeenclub.com/2010/04/28/but-i-did-not-shoot-the-devotee/

   If the title is particularly long it gets truncated. Hit the Edit Permalink button and grab it from there.

   Come to think of it, why not grab the WordPress.com Shortlink and use that?

   I have vague suspicions that there's a negative SEO consequence, as the actual words are not in the shortlink.

   Thanks for the Edit Permalink idea. That should work!
