Private and public blog switched??

  1. I don't know what happened but on my Stats page it says In The Barberry (WP Private) and Luna's Cottage (WP). It should be the reverse!

The blog I need help with is inthebarberry.wordpress.com.

  2. Also I am quite frankly more concerned that my Barberry blog is visible. Nothing too Earth shattering on the Luna blog

  3. Yikes! Flagged for Staff.

  4. Pfft sorry I meant I WANT my Barberry blog to be visible to all.

  5. Thanks Timethief! Can you see my blog??

  6. Oh, weird. Also the privacy settings on Barberry ARE correct, could this just be a weird glitch?

  7. Okay I tried clicking and unclicking the privacy settings, that seems to have fixed the Barberry stats page. But the Luna blog still says its public.

  8. Thanks Timethief, you were very kind to help on Thanksgiving!

  9. This is timethief logged in under my account for my personal blog.

But the Luna blog still says its public.

Not good. Staff help required and I'm sorry this is happening to you.

  10. Thanks again Timethief, I'm not too worried about my private blog. I knew enough to NOT write anything super personal as I know how these things go. Also the blog listed "private" was public so maybe just an inaccurate reverse glitch?

As long as Barberry is definetly public I can live with it.

  11. Thanks for a great comment and for confirming that it can be viewed. Please visit again any time!

  12. Hi @ameliespp, thanks for the report. I checked http://inthebarberry.wordpress.com and it's definitely public. It had its visibility set as "Discourage search engines from indexing this site" and you just recently updated it to "Allow search engines to index this site".

Your other blog was and remains private. I was not able to find any evidence that it became public. If you have any doubts, you can log out of WordPress.com (or open it in a different browser where you are not logged in) and check that way if you can see a blog's contents or if you are prompted to login.

It seems to me that it's just the labels in brackets next to blogs' titles in the dropdown don't always reflect if a site is private or not, and I'm looking further into this. The sites themselves don't suddenly become private/public.

Let me know if you need more assistance with this!

  13. @ameliespp: the labels in the dropdown in the Stats page have been fixed up now and correctly identify private blogs, Jetpack blogs, etc.

Let me know if you need any more assistance!

  14. Jenia thanks so much! I was just glad to hear both blogs were normal. I appreciate the prompt response.

  15. You're welcome - happy blogging!

  16. @Jenia, just an update: I got some search hits so I decided to switch my blog option back to "discourage search engines", and now it says it's private again. As long as it's public that's fine, but I figure that option must be the problem behind this.

  17. Thanks for the report, looks like the labeling is off (that blog is private). I'm going to follow up on this, thanks for your patience!

  18. Hi there, it should be all set now - could you please check and report back if you see any issues?

  19. Perfect! Barberry is public and Luna's is private again. What a relief to see both back to normal. Thank you! :)

  20. You're welcome, and thank you for reporting this in the first place!
