problem with spammer

  1. This person seems to be targeting me every day with numerous and very very lengthy spams--they are being caught and held in the spam filter, but i have tried blocking and nothing seems to work. Is there any way to check on this, enforce it? Am i doing something wrong in the blocking section?

The blog I need help with is albedoarlee.wordpress.com.

  2. Is it the SEO one?

I get several of those also.

  3. -they are being caught and held in the spam filter

The vast and overwhelming majority of all so-called information on the internet is spam. Over 80% of all so-called comments submitted to .wordpress.com blogs every day are spam.

The worst of all spam containing malware and viruses is not sent to us. It's removed as it could bring down many blogs if opened.

On the spam that Akismet catches it takes only seconds to click "empty spam" and you don't even have to click "empty spam" if you don't want to. Akismet will maintain comments it has caught for 15 days from the time they were received, and then it will delete the comment automatically.

If you get spam that slips by Akismet then mark it as spam (do not delete it) and over time Akismet will learn it's spam.

There is no such thing as eliminating all spam and Akismet is handling your spam correctly. Please don't brood about this. For more information please take the time to read "5 things every blogger should know about spam" on this page Akismet: How it works http://akismet.com/how/

  4. P.S. I actually blog on SEO and that makes my blog a target for pages of opportunistic spam. No reputable SEO company will every spam your blog. Please don't get hung up on this and let your concern suck the joy of blogging right out of you.

  5. I get a laugh out of the "SEO Experts" and such with a gmail email account - so very "professional"

  6. yep, it is the SEO one--and he's SUCH a pain in the Bazotski!!!!!!! ok, will just keep bulk action deleting him, the #$@^!@

  7. Hold it. Don't ever delete spam. Click "empty spam" so Akismet can learn that it is spam.

Also note you don't even have to click "empty spam" if you don't want to. Akismet will maintain comments it has caught for 15 days from the time they were received, and then it will delete the comment automatically.
