Problems commenting

  1. My readers are getting error messages when they try to comment that say "you must be logged in to comment" . Is anyone else having this issue? Any idea how to resolve it?

The blog I need help with is whatsheshaving.com.

  2. Yes there have beem other bloggers who posted about this in the last coouple of days. Please tell those individuals experiencing this issue to contact Staff directly with all their details.

  3. I'm getting the same thing. Everyone is getting the error "You must be logged in to comment with that email address" if they are not logged into their wordpress account. I don't have wordpress-only commenting activated. I've tried activating and disabling the feature to see if that resets it, but it doesn't.

  4. We recently updated our commenting system.

Now, if someone tries to comment with an email address attached to a WordPress.com account, they'll need to sign into WordPress.com before they can comment.

If commenters have forgotten their password they can request a reset:
    http://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

  5. But why do comments end up in spam queue's? I can't even post comments or threads in the support thread about this issue.

  6. Makes sense. Thanks for the response. Is there a way the error response could be more informative? i.e. You are trying to comment with an email address that is tied to a wordpress.com account. Please log in to your account before commenting.

  7. I agree that the error message needs to be more descriptive. If this encompasses Gravatar as well as wordpress that should be indicated.

I think that the change will cause a lot of people to simply stop commenting, which is not good for wordpress bloggers.
