Public users of my blog

  1. Is there a way, without sending individual e-mails, to allow the 'public' to be users whose role is contributor?
Please advise. I do plan to issue e-mails to friends as either authors or contributors. I would like my blog to be open to the public for posting as well as commenting.

The blog I need help with is ourvictimstories.wordpress.com.

  2. No there is not. You can add only specific identifiable people as official contributors to your blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/ You cannot add every human being in the world who happens to be online as contributors to your blog.

What you are describing is more like a Wiki or a Forum than it is like a blog. We cannot embed Wikis or Forums into free hosted WordPress.com blogs. We can register a free one on the internet and link to it from our blog in a custom menu by adding a custom link to it.
