Publicise to Facebook doesn't show featured image

  1. Hi,
A recent post of mine (http://kristielleamy.com/2013/10/01/charlotte/) was set up with a featured image and gallery. However when I publicised to Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/KristielleAmyPhotography) the image Facebook used was not my featured image or any of the photos in the gallery. It used my header image (my logo). How do I change this?
    Thankyou.

The blog I need help with is kristielleamy.com.

  2. I'm sorry but when using Publicize, note that we have no control over the images that Facebook chooses to display or when they choose to flush their image caches. We really only send them the URL of the post, and they hunt through that for the excerpt and images to include. 3. Thanks for this. I was having the same problem, and I read elsewhere in these forums about setting the featured image, which I now do. That mostly works, but sometimes it doesn't. I guess showing the logo is better than nothing!

  4. Sorry my answer wasn't one that helps every time.

  5. Facebook keeps changing their code--it would probably be a full-time job for you folks to keep up with them! Even then there would likely be frustrations.

  6. Thanks for the reply. Pretty much makes the Facebook publicize feature useless.. I know WordPress say it's facebook's issue, but in reality, publicise is a wordpress feature therefore its a WordPress issue too. It shouldn't be up to Facebook users to bring this attention to Facebook. It's obviously a common issue, therefore WordPress should be collaborating with Facebook directly. Pretty simple problem to fix I would have thought :-(

  7. Hi I've recently started having the same problem (again). This first happened in February when everything was working fine, I was posting a picture and when the post went through to Facebook it did not show the picture I posted when previously it had worked fine. This was on February 10th if you want to check back. I was told several times that the issue was with Facebook and various other reasons and definitely NOT a problem with WordPress until finally we were advised that the problem actually WAS with WordPress and the developers were aware of the issue and this was then fixed. Please could this be checked again as it does appear the same issue has happened again. Thanks for your help.

  8. Having the same problem myself at the moment with my blog, modflowers.wordpress.com - just showing my logo when I post to facebook via Publicise. Everything was fine until a couple of days ago.

  9. I'm sorry this is happening to you. I have tagged this thread and another for Staff.

  10. For some reason, Facebook fails to recognize them when a link to your site is posted with Publicize. At this point, I'm afraid there is not much else we can do. Your posts include image tags, and it's up to Facebook to use these images or not.

With that said, our developers are aware of this issue, and are looking into it to determine if there is anything we can change on our end to get this working properly.

I'll reply to this tread when we have any additional information on our end.

    Thank you for your patience.

  11. Hi, the problem seems to be resolved today. I'm not sure what changed, but today's post has appeared with a photo - yay!

  12. Sadly mine still has same problem - thinking of giving up and finding a new platform.

  13. In my case, it is not just Facebook what is failing.. Tweeter isn´t working as it used! Beginning to think it is not just "a Facebook matter"...

  14. After one day of posting a photo, the problem has returned. *Sigh*.
It beats me how Facebook can be so successful when it seems to listen so little to it's users.

  15. glad to see others in the same boat, i eagerly await for new information on how to correct this because it does seem inconsistent with when and how it works.

  16. having the same problem, would love a solution.

  17. Following...I'm having the same problem! With no thumbnail, the link is barely visible on Facebook.

  18. I have the same problem.

  19. I keep reading about featured image, which can be found under Screen Options. When I open screen options the "featured image" item is not among the things I can select. I am so frustrated! I used an image related to my post and at the end a video. Facebook is showing the video as the featured image and we know that people will open the video, but not the blog!

The featured image dont work until a month ago in my facebook page and google+ .

  21. I am experiencing this as well with the Scrollider theme. When I use Publicize, the feature photo is ignored and Facebook and Google Plus, etc., grab only my profile photo (which looks pretty narcissistic when it shows up in posts). I match my feature photo to my posts, so I'd really like it to be used. Publicize will grab an inset photo if one is used, but I use those much less often. Like other posters here, if I post to FB or Google+ or Tumbr manually, I can control the art. This really should be fixed as it renders the convenience of Publicize useless, and actually makes things worse because I'd have to delete a previous post and redo it manually. My site is http://www.jeremypodolski.com

  22. I am also having this issue.

  23. it's not just the feature image that is messed up ... Publicizing to FB used to have a result: a post on the timeline/wall with the title of the original post at WP... now this is also screwed... all I'm getting is the first sentence of my pust, truncated and images from within the post...

that renders the publicize function useless IMO. ... it totally screws the way the post appears... well, back to manual sharing I guess ... thumbs down

  24. I can't share my post on Facebook by the button below it, and when I copy the address and post directly to Facebook only shows the link.

Não consigo compartilhar minha postagem no Facebook pelo botão abaixo dela, e quando copio o endereço e posto diretamente no Facebook apenas aparece o link.

Too many people with this problem included me, but any solution...

its facebook fault, wordpress or the template ???

    -------
i am using actually theme Suburbia.

  26. Same thing here . . . picking up header image instead of inset photo selected to correlate to the theme of the post. Had the problem in November, then it was fixed (by WP? FB? who knows?) a few days later. Then problem again with post on 12/5. 12/9 post was right, but now 12/11 post again shows only header image. Very frustrating.

  27. I'm having the same problem. It was fine as of 12/11/13, but now, two days later, my post is showing up as the URL with the first few lines of the post. Not appealing at all.

  28. It is also happening for me with inset photos. I had a recent post that had both a nice feature photo and inset photo, and Publicize posted it to Facebook with a under-resolved Twitter logo instead! And I know it is WordPress's issue because when I manually post to Facebook, it utilizes the proper image(s).

  29. Of course it's a Worppress issue. The surprising thing is that anyone at WP seems to know how to fix it.

  30. All, I just found this page and it solved my issue: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/chris-abraham/facebook-object-debugger-_b_3639746.html.

By heading to the Facebook Open Graph Object Debugger, I was able to see that the image FB thought it should be pulling was actually the wrong link. Then I was able to go to the post's HTML and correct the problem—it needed a hard line break to be able to distinguish the two elements.
