Why don't thumbnails show up on Facebook and how to de-select Publicize?

    I can make the connection to our Facebook page - facebook.com/lvccldlibrary and the post will appear on facebook but I can't get the picture in the post to appear. Today I did a post on Recycled-Metal art in one of our galleries. I included a picture 264x201 and selected it as "featured image". The post displays on Facebook but no image. What am I doing wrong?

    Also, we have a post each Saturday morning going to Twitter. The post even though we uncheck Facebook goes to both Facebook and Twitter. Any ideas as to why?

    Hi there,

    I've just cleared your site's cache on Facebook. Can you try sharing your post again? When I tested out sharing "Recycled Metal Art Sculptures" on my own Facebook account, the image associated with your post showed up for me.

    Regarding your second question, are you de-selecting Facebook from the Publicize module? When you go back to edit your post, does it still show that Twitter was the only site selected for the Publicize feature?

    Posted two more posts from the wordpress blog - Social Media @LVCCLD with images bigger than 200x200 and set as 'featured image' and neither one appeared on either the library's facebook page or my dog's facebook page - Luna Toons. I tried deleted my cache and cookies in both IE and Firefox and still no pictures from WordPress.

    For the second question. Yes, only Twitter is selected. I have another post for this coming Saturday scheduled. I have confirmed the Facebook under Publicize is unchecked for Facebook. This post is a copied posted from a couple of weeks ago. I think the original post had the Facebook checked. Would it matter if it's a copied post and got unchecked and saved? I would think not but i guess anything is possible.

    Hi there,

    When I try sharing your newest posts on my own Facebook, I am able to choose from two to three thumbnails - one of which is the featured image in your post. When you come across this error, are you manually sharing your post via Facebook or are you using Facebook Publicize?

    Regarding posting scheduled articles only on Twitter, I do not see any option to select or de-select Facebook and Twitter in your Publish module. Can you confirm that your blog - Social Media @ LVCCLD - is connected to both Facebook and Twitter via your Dashboard > Settings > Sharing?

    Publicize shows both Facebook Fan page and Twitter account connected. I did not have RSS feed turned on for the theme, could that cause the problem? I turned it on just now. I tried another post with a picture and selected it as the featured image when I uploaded the picture. It posted without the picture. Then I went back and posted from the blog article (clicking the facebook icon) I got the picture to post that way.

    Under sharing in settings, both Facebook and Twitter are connected.

    On the post in admin view there is a section on the right side labeled Publicize. I have been un-checking face book so it only goes to twitter or vice versa, adding in some additional text, etc. and scheduling the post. In the first attempt above I unchecked Twitter and the post did not post to Twitter only Facebook so I think it has something to do with it being a copied post and at one time it was set to post to both.

    [An aside] I have also noticed if you do anything in this box before saving the draft, the shorten URL for the post is not added it has to be added manually.

    Right now I'm more concerned about getting the picture to post to facebook. I'm using Networkedblogs for one of our blogger sites and I can always resort to using that as well if I have too.

    Hi there,

    I was able to reproduce the problem by using Publicize with a test Facebook Page. I've alerted our team to this issue and they are working on fixing it. Unfortunately, I cannot provide a timeline as to when this will be resolved.

    I'm very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause in the meantime!

    Regarding un-checking Facebook and/or Twitter, I would suggest saving your post as a Draft and scheduling it first. Once your Draft and scheduling are complete, then un-check either social networking site and save.

    Thank you for investigating and finding a problem. I have been using WordPress for several years but we just started with a Facebook and Twitter account and I really wanted to use WordPress to post to the social media sites. I hope you can fix it soon.
