   We are a non-profit organization and are using WordPress to publish our annual industry report. All content on our site will be available free of charge; however, we are seeking to offset some of our production costs by soliciting for advertisements from microfinance organizations and companies with an interest in microfinance. We will NOT be using AdSense, Yahoo, or any of these other prohibited third-party advertising sources.

   My question is, if we present advertisements on our site by these organizations or companies we solicit, are we running afoul of the rules?

   Please note that the blog below (mcsummit.wordpress.com) is not the site I'm talking about above (though it is our organization's blog). We have not yet built the site for the annual report.

   There is only one advertising program called WordAds at WordPress.com and it’s for blogs on their own domains. This is the homepage for the WordAds program: http://www.wordads.co/ There you will find the application page as well as FAQs.

   Aside from a blog being accepted into WordAds, no blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work or products created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.com blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.com

   On free hosted WordPress.com blog we can use a contact form and/or a PayPal donation button for sale of only products or services created or provided by ourselves.
