Question on "Stay" Theme

  1. You're welcome.
    Unfortunately you can't have everything for free... Buying the Custom Design upgrade would allow you to restyle the button anyway you please. If you're curious to see how this would work, I can work out some code for you to preview.

  2. wow thanks, that would be great - i'd love to see it. $30/yr seems reasonable for such a great program. could i get rid of the button and change all my text to lowercase?

  3. The custom Design upgrade allows you to change any aspect of the appearance of any element (fonts, sizes, colors, borders, position - you name it), including removing an element.

    Go to Appearance > Customizer > CSS, select all and delete (to remove the welcome message), then paste this to see how you would override the capitalization of the blog title and the menu items:

    .site-title, .navigation-main a {
        text-transform: none;
    }

    For a simple example of how you could restyle the button, paste this (it will remove the white frame and turn the text to light grey):

    .featured .hentry, .featured h2 {
    background-color: transparent;
    }
    .featured h2 a, .featured h2:after {
        color: #CCCCCC;
    }

    To remove the button altogether, you'd use this:

    .featured h2 {
        display: none;
    }
  4. wow - that looks so much better - thank you for creating the code for me! this is incentive to buy the custom design upgrade. i do have a question about the pages before i commit to this theme.

    is it possible to set up my pages to be full width (or to at least have space in my sidebars) instead of having the widgets or search bar on either side of my featured image? also, can i set up my "rooms" in two or three columns instead of one and get rid of the comment bar?

    thanks for all your help
    emily

  5. working on this page right now if it helps you see what i'm talking about: http://emilychaffee.wordpress.com/25-2/

  6. another question - is it possible for me to have a thumbnail of my "rooms" on the marsh page and then when i click on them, say "marsh 01" for example, to be able to have one full size photo? so far i find that if i have a featured image for the "room" then i automatically have a thumbnail on the parent page but its not a full size photo when i click into the "room" page. and if i insert a full size photo as media in the room page then i don't have a thumbnail on the parent page.

  7. a) If you have the Custom Design upgrade, you can remove the sidebars, and you can manipulate things to display the "rooms" in two or three columns.
    b) To get rid of the comment section, you go to Pages > All Pages, click Quick Edit under the page title, uncheck the option "Allow Comments", click Update.
    c) I must admit your last question got me confused: try setting the image as a featured image as well as inserting it as a full-width image so I can see what happens.

  8. hello, i am using the stay theme, switched to german language. but some strings are still showing up in english, for example "adults", "children", "arrival", "departure" in the reservation widget,

    how can i enable a german translation for these strings as well?

    Hi,
    Is it possible to use stay on a self-hosted wordpress.org site? I can't find it as an available theme and I've visited the automattic site, but couldn't see an upgrade package for sale.

    TIA

  10. A small bug from the theme : I'm using Stay in 3 different languages and after finishing my first site, I exported the xml file, created a new site, installed the theme and imported the xml file. All works well except rooms that have not been imported.

  11. hi justpi -

    thanks for directing me to customize and giving me the code. i opted to take the word out all together. can you tell me how to get rid of the squares on the lower left hand corner of the slider?

    within the pages, i can not figure out how to get rid of the search bar on the left side of the page. i'd like the top image on each page to stretch from left to right with no sidebar where the top image is.

    also you say i can manipulate things to display the "rooms" in two or three columns. how do i do this?

    i'll try that last question again after i get these figured out.

    thank you!
    emily

  12. also, i'd like to put the "my community" widget on my contact page and not on any other page. how do i select which page the widget shows up on?

  13. @emilychaffee : in your widget, you have "visibility options" that allows to show on hide on the pages you want.

  14. @emilychaffee : you can remove the search bar by removing the search widget from the main sidebar.

  15. hi @elisedesaulniers - thank you for your support. i found the visibility options and that worked. i have removed the search bar from the main sidebar and it is still showing up. any ideas?

  16. h

  17. Try to replace the search widget by a text widget with just a space in the content. Often, it's enough :)

  18. justpi, thanks for the code to change the slider button colors. Can you also provide code to change the Rooms "header" - when I set the background to black, the grays just don't show well at all.

  19. hi @elisedesaulniers - that works to take out the search bar but i still have the large margin/sidebar. i want my top image to stretch from left to right of the screen. you can see what i'm working on here: http://emilychaffee.com/mountain/

    on june 21 justpi left the comment:

    a) If you have the Custom Design upgrade, you can remove the sidebars, and you can manipulate things to display the "rooms" in two or three columns.

    i got the custom design upgrade, now i need to know the steps to remove the sidebars and display the rooms in 2 or 3 columns. can anyone help with this?

    thanks!
    emily

  20. love this theme, btw

  21. actually this is a better example to look at: http://emilychaffee.com/25-2/ i want the top image to stretch from left to right with no sidebar, and below that i want to or 3 columns of "rooms" (photos)

  22. hi i got an answer to this question. it didn't work for me because it reduced the image quality. but in case anyone else wants the image on their pages to span left to right with no sidebar the code is:

    #secondary {
    display: none;
    }

    #content {
    padding-left: 0;
    }

    .hentry .attachment-feat-img {
    width: 100%;
    }

    from this thread

    @justpi - i tried what you said in order to have a thumbnail on my parent page "marsh" and the actual full size image when you click in for a closer look on "marsh 1".

    c) ...try setting the image as a featured image as well as inserting it as a full-width image so I can see what happens.

    this is what happened: http://emilychaffee.com/room/marsh-02/ do you know how i can get a thumbnail and just the one properly proportioned image?

  23. Hello

    I have the same problem with the reservation widget for german language.

    hello, i am using the stay theme, switched to german language. but some strings are still showing up in english, for example "adults", "children", "arrival", "departure" in the reservation widget,

    how can i enable a german translation for these strings as well?

    A answer would be really nice!!!

    Thanks
