Questions Regarding Parament Theme

  1. Hi,

Have just started on this blogging journey.

I have a few questions regarding the current theme I have chosen: Parament.

Firstly this is what I want the main page of the blog to look like: Each post to have a featured image with a short excerpt detailing briefly what the post is about (1st paragraph or whatever) and then a 'Read More' link which when clicked takes reader to a new page.

    - My problem is that I can't seem to set a featured image as there is no featured image uploader on the right hand side of the page.
    - I have an excerpt section where I can insert text, but it doesn't follow through when the post is published.

    Questions:
    1. Is there a setting I am missing somewhere?
    2. Does the Parament theme support these features?
    3. Is there some sort of CSS code which I need to insert to make the above possible?

    Please help

The blog I need help with is noblestrogue.com.

  2. Answers:
    1. No.
    2. No.
    3. No.
In other words you need a different theme.

  3. Ah ok...

How do you you know when choosing a theme whether it supports featured images and excerpts?

  4. Featured images are mentioned in the instructions for each theme or if you filter for "features":
    http://theme.wordpress.com/
Custom excerpts aren't mentioned anywhere: you have to test the theme.
(I used to test all features of all themes - see my blog.)
But some themes display excerpts by default: you can see that if you check the theme demo.
