Reader for the blogs I follow not working on WP.com

    Browser: Mozilla,

    Even if I try and open in a new tab, the loading symbol whirls and then the help text over reader shows. Reader box refuses to open. All other tabs work, new post, freshly pressed, topics etc. Just not the reader. Earlier when I had this issue refresh would open it, now that doesn't work either.

    If I use the reader on iPhone I can see all the blogs I follow exactly as they are posted.

    (I don't enjoy reading off the phone as commenting is cumbersome, and for the bulk of blogs I follow only a few are set for email notification.)

    Is there a setting that I have bumped somewhere along the way?

    Hi there,
    I'm using Firefox 12 and not experiencing any problems accessing the Reader links or any others on the WordPress.com home page. These are the troubleshooting steps we take whenever any issues like this arise:
    clearing your browser cache and cookies > http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
    using the browser with all extensions or add-ons disabled
    updating the browser to the latest stable version (not a buggy BETA browser version) http://browsehappy.com/
    confirming third party cookies is enabled http://support.google.com/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=61416
    confirming JavaScript is enabled http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654
    resetting your router and modem and rebooting your computer
    then logging in using the secure https:// log-in see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
    trying another browser

    If those do not work we need to know how are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.

    I'm having the same problem as Kanerva1966 although I don't have an iphone and haven't attempted to view wordpress reader from another device. My browser is Mozilla. I haven't done anything differently. Your troubleshooting steps seem drastic and I hesitate to attempt following them. Claudia

    Follow them. They are important and basic.

    I got back Reader by running ccleaner, malwareby, and secunia PSI. I don't know what they do or how they work but I now can view the post I follow. Claudiajustsaying

    I tried all of the above advice and none of it worked. I am using Firefox 12 (now after updating), have no problem opening the reader in Safari on other people's Mac's, have the problem both in Israel and now while visiting in the States, but prior to about 3 weeks ago I had no problem opening the reader. It just stopped opening suddenly one day.
    Any further suggestions? This is very frustrating to say the least.

    PS: Just checked on my cellphone, a Samsung Mini, and it also opens with no problem....very strange...and thanks for any suggestions regarding my laptop.

    I have Safari and I experience this problem... anyone has tips for it?

    Same issues. Stopped working a few weeks ago for no reason I can detect. Both at work and on personal laptop. Nothing was changed...other than the usual windows updates. IE8 was working fine, not going to 9 any time soon. Will see about going through the steps mentioned above. Thanks.

    Okay, just went through all the steps...java, clearing cache, disable add-ons/extensions, enabling third-party cookies (they were), and using https to login/browse WordPress reader.

    No cigar! Using IE8 with latest patches/updates to XP. Same symptoms on home laptop with IE8 and Windows 7 (latest updates installed). Both failed at the same time...so either WordPress changed something, or Microsoft changed something.

    Did not clear cookies...but will do that now...as last resort. Then have to remember usernames, etc. :\ Haha.

    Ok, one thing that comes up recently that didn't come up before when going to wordpress reader is an error in browser window:
    "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has blocked this website from displaying content with security certificate errors. Click here for options..."

    But even when choosing the option to display blocked content....nothing shows up in the reader window. I see the WordPress W logo, and "(6) WordPress.com)" telling me there are 6 new posts...but the display section is blank.

    Oh, and clearing cookies did not help. Any other suggestions?

    just thought I'd let you all know that just as curiously as it stopped working, it began working again one day a couple of weeks ago. So perhaps it was some small thing wrong at wordpress. Have no idea, just happy to have it back

    may be it underlies with in wordpress
