Reader tab is not working

when I click the reader tab nothing opens at all, (everything else on the dashboard is opening, like freshly pressed etc) - so I can't manage anything with the reader function, and in addition the widget link for adding other blogs to my blog roll is also not working. The day after I set my blog up I think I was prompted to install explorer 9 following my attempt to install Zemanta/photos. I'm presuming that something has gone wrong 'cookie' wise but I've searched the internet option/tools advice on the forums and none of it is helping. Everything else seems fine with my blog and user settings and other than that I'm having a blast with my WordPress blog!! thanks, Nanna Prawn :)

The blog I need help with is wordswithnannaprawn.wordpress.com.

  3. I'm sorry about the typos. I meant to type; "Staff are responding to those with Topics page issues and Reader issues in this thread which you can post into"

We realized last night that it's actually just a problem on my laptop because when I logged on from the home computer my reader function worked fine. On my laptop I only have the problem if I try to log in via searching for WordPress on google. If I log in via Chrome my reader function is ok. I still think there might have been an issue with downloading Explorer 9 but I can use WordPress now so thats all good! thanks for the reply,.....I'm now just about to trawl the forums to figure out if the reason that comments on my blog are not displayed underneath my posts is because either a) the theme I've chosen dosen't support that or b) there is something else I haven't yet activated! Some of WordPress is pretty tricky for a Nanna like me! Best wishes.

  5. Do you by any chance use a Macbook? I've been having the same problem, and I haven't tried to use the Reader on any other computers, but I use a Macbook, so could that be what's interfering? Should I use a different browser?

  6. I was able to reproduce the problem where the reader tab doesn't load in my test blog, but it only happens in one of my accounts and not others, so I'm not sure of the source of the trouble yet. I've reported the issue to our developers but my report was pretty vague, so any details you can share about what might trigger this issue for you guys would be very helpful to know tool.

For example, it may be helpful to know things like:

    * Is this problem limited to one browser version for you?
    * Does the problem happen only from some network locations (i.e. only at work)?
    * Does the problem happen sometimes and not others in the same browser?
    * Do any types of blogs you subscribe to stand out (i.e. lots of photography blogs)?
    * Do you subscribe to blogs in all English or other languages too?

That's a pretty broad set of questions, but I'm just looking for any possible similarities I can think of at this point.

Thanks for any additional info. you can help provide.

Unless you use the P2 theme, which is a Twitter-like theme, the front pages of our blogs showcase content and comments are collapsed on that page and you cannot change this. The way the comments function is coded into the core of WordPress. By clicking the post title or the comments link the posts on the front page open on their own page where all comments display.

In a new blog one does not have many posts or comments. In an established blog if the comments did not collapse on the front page it would become a mile long in no time flat and page loading time is a page ranking factor. We have only seconds before visitors refuse to wait and click out.

  8. Good answer on comments. If you're still having trouble seeing comments even after clicking on a single post or page, make sure comments are enabled. If you need further help with comments, it would be awesome if you could start a separate thread about that and include a link to the post where you're having trouble.

  9. Here's what my first attempt debugging screenshot looks like for the reader not loading issue including trying to find if any XHR requests are broken or show any errors in the Firebug Net → XHR section: http://cl.ly/GmMH/o

  10. We made an update just now to try to fix the issue where the reader tab wasn't loading for some users. The update should make loading the reader a bit faster overall too, which is a nice bonus! Would you mind please refreshing the reader tab again now and letting me know if you're still having any trouble with it at all?
