Reading direction!?

  1. How does one get the blog page to read from top to bottom (like EVERY person in the known universe reads!) instead of bottom to top!? (The MOST stupid idea I have ever encountered)
    Blog url: http://aardvarkplasterworks.wordpress.com/

  2. If you are referring to the order in which blog posts are displayed, WordPress began as a blogging platform. To quote from one of the support documents:

A blog is a collection of commentary posted on the internet. There are all different types of blogs including personal, corporate, political, podcasts, photographic, and more. Blog posts are typically displayed in reverse-chronological order with the latest posts at the top. Many blogs allow readers to comment on the blogger’s post, which can create a sense of community and encourage discussion.

For most users having the most current item first fulfills their needs. Think of it as a news function, you want to see the most current item first.

If that is NOT what you want, there are some workarounds. You can chose a static page as your Front Page. You can choose to have your wordpress site just a series of "static" pages, not blog posts. Just write in the content the way you would in any document, from top to bottom. You can use a custom menu to show just the pages you want to show.

If you want to use blog posts, but want to make sure your users see them in Ascending order (oldest post first) you can use the custom menu and create a custom menu item using custom links and create a link to an Ascending sort order of your blog posts. That URL would be in the format of http://aardvarkplasterworks.wordpress.com/?orderby=date&order=ASC. This cannot be the "landing" page for your site, but if you have a specific need for the ascending sort it can be handy.

    Good luck with your site.
