Is it possible to change settings so that every time a contributor sends a post for review, the administrator will receive an email?

We don't have such feature at the moment but your contributor can email you and let you know there's a pending post for you to examine and/or approve.

Maybe you can give the idea to WordPress developers, it's a fairly small and easy feature to add! ;) -
They have received this suggestion previously and if you would like to suggest it to them again then please feel free to do so.
