  1. So in the "Discussion settings", it says

"For users without a custom avatar of their own, you can either display a generic logo or a generated one based on their e-mail address."

Is it possible to upload a custom avatar? Or a set of avatar to randomly pick from?

The blog I need help with is thethirdbarcom.wordpress.com.

  3. I meant not for me but for my recent comments. The ones that randomly show up are... well pretty ugly.

I know I can choose between the mosaic style ones and the monster ones but was wondering if I could upload an avatar that is used when people comment who are not with wordpress.

  4. but was wondering if I could upload an avatar that is used when people comment who are not with wordpress.

    No you cannot do that.

  5. Will suggest it to staff then.

  6. Why create yet another thread? I flagged this one so it's moved to the Ideas Forum for you.

  7. @samdurrant - the only bloghost I can think of where you can do this is LiveJournal. Very unlikely that wordpress.com would bring it in here.

  8. Just pointing out that it would make sense...

It would be neat if a random avatar would show up that would 'fit' the layout. Oh well. Just a suggestion.

  9. I cannot comprehend how one could compel anyone else to select from a site specific selection of avatars, without requiring registration and we can't do that on free hosted WordPress.com blogs.

As for me, I would not be happy if I was restricted to selecting from only avatars another blogger provided because they "fit" their layout. Frankly I would assume they were a control freak and would be gone in a thrice.

  10. As I said, this would be a neat feature for people not registered to WP. If they are indeed registered they do have their own avatar so that should be fine.

Friendly as always -thanks timethief :)

  11. You don't need to be a WordPress.com blogger to register a gravatar.
