I am currently using the recent post widget, but is there a way to get it to display recently added pages as well, or do i need a seperate widget... does said widget even exist? Basically I want to be able to have an automated recent updates (regardless of page/post/link/etc. in the side bar.) an ideas?

Recent post widget and pages
I don't think there is - it would make a great feature request though.
Please understand that we cannot even begin to offer to help you unless or until you post the complete URL starting with http:// for the blog in question. This is because free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM run on different software than wordpress.ORG install for self hosting do and the answers may be different.
Please read this entry so you are clear on the differences bwteen the two. http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1
The wordpress Recent Posts widgets displays Recent Posts and automatically updates when you publish. It does not display static Pages. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/recent-posts-widget/
If you wish you can create your own widget by using a Text Widget and entering the titles linked to the appropriate URLs but it will NOT automatically update. You will have to update it manually.
