Ok, so I have decided I no longer want to use the domain (purchased from wordpress as a blog) ,instead I want to use it as a personal site for my "team".
How would I go about getting ownership of the domain?
The blog I need help with is justdandylion.com.

As long as you have not allowed it to expire and it has not gone back into the pool of available domain names, you are the registered owner of it and you can do with it as you wish.
If you are setting up a site somewhere else for your "team" then all you need to do is edit the DNS and point it at the new web host.
If you want to use it on a different site here, then you will need to create that site and then ask staff to transfer the domain mapping (if it also has not expired) over to that new site.
Oh ok, Neato! Sounds easy enough, but at the moment im in indecision...
It actually looks like WordPress might be a decent platform to make a "team" page,so...
I think that if you add your team as authors it would make a very reasonable team site. Not as extensive as some self-hosted options like BuddyPress but having the big advantage that all the management/maintenance/patching/security work is done for you.
