redirecting from wordpress.com to wordpress.com

  1. I am switching from .com to .org and now currently have 2 identical blogs (one on each) I want to redirect so that all the traffic that hits my .com is redirected to my .org...and I've seen some redirect plug-ins and the site redirection option....but I wondered if this just direcs people who enter the .com address? I've had my .org address 8 months longer and it picks up way more google hits, which I don't want to lose. If I redirect (and which is the best way to do it?) how do I manage this? And can I redirect from a specific blog post on .com (where the google hits tend to go) to the related post on the new blog?

    Thanks

The blog I need help with is kristiewest.wordpress.com.

  2. The site redirect here will redirect all traffic coming to the .COM blog to your .ORG blog if that is what you want. It will redirect from like URL to like URL. So if someone tries to go to a post on your .COM site with a title of "Curly Fries" the site redirect here will send them to the "Curly Fries" post on the .ORG blog.

You don't want to use a redirect plugin since all that will do is redirect links internal to your .ORG blog. It will not redirect anything from the .COM blog because there is no connection between that plugin and wordpress.COM. The redirect has to happen from here.

  3. Are you saying all I have to do is buy the Redirect and it will redirect all old Post URLs to all new Post URLs, as well as the Home Page. There is nothing else besides this?

  4. Does this help?

Are you leaving WordPress.com? Would you like to redirect yourblogname.wordpress.com (as well as all of your permalinks) to your new domain name? Have you recently changed your blog address and need to redirect traffic to the new name? That’s what the Site Redirect upgrade does, and managing the redirect is very simple. http://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/

  5. Yes. Yes. Yes.

My wholefoodusa.wordpress.com has high google ratings and I converted to http://journal.livingfood.us

So it redirects from the old article URL to the new (apparently by replacing the domain name in front of the /article-name-etc

I will read the link you gave again--Thanks

  6. Sweet, very sweet. It is working like a charm and the traffic is coming in much stronger now. Thanks for the assist.

  7. @daugenstein
I am not clear why you posted here. Your journal /wholefoodusa.wordpress.com blog is redirecting to your livingfood.us site which is a self-hosted WordPress blog.
That site has a 3/10 Google pagerank and 2,908,911 is the Alexa Traffic Rank.
Your blog is indexed by Google (129 results).
Your blog is indexed by Bing (6 results).
