Referrers are not showing up

  1. I almost never see Referrers on my Site Stat page even when the page shows that there have been page views and/or clicks. Even when there are Referrers listed, the total count usually falls far short of the page view count. What's up with this?

The blog I need help with is sweetbenjamins.wordpress.com.

  2. I take it you have not read the Stats entry in the support documentation.

Why doesn’t the number of referrers add up to the number of total views?
Not all visitors will land on your blog by clicking a link somewhere else. Visitors may type your URL directly into the web browser, click a link in an email, or click a link in another application which then loads the browser. Visitors that come from search engines will also not be counted as referrers because they’ll be listed in the search engine terms. http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/

  3. That doesn't make sense. For the past few months google and yahoo were turning up as referrers. Now all of a sudden "Visitors that come from search engines will also not be counted as referrers because they’ll be listed in the search engine terms."? That isn't consistent and it also doesn't offer data anymore. If you're not going to tell me where people are visiting from, there's little point in me even checking the referrers box.

  4. Hello again,
Those answering question on these support forums like myself are Volunteers. We do not make policy. If you have feedback for Staff then here's the link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox, under the search results, at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.

  5. Also note that you can get more detail on your visitors by installing free non-Javascript visitor tracking. Scroll down to "visitor tracking" on this page to locate the various choices. I recommend sitemeter.
