How do I get a refund for my domain mapping?

    Hi,
    I just sent another mail to ask how to change to self hosting after I just registered a domain and purchased mapping with you yesterday.

    I am happy to keep the domain registered there, but should cancel mapping so I can host with one of your recommended providers. Can you refund the mapping fee and just leave the registration?

    Mapping is required for the registration to work.

    You can get mapping without registration if you want to map a domain registered elsewhere to a WordPress.com blog, but you can't get registration without mapping - the mapping is not included in the registration upgrade.

    Hmm I am not sure that makes sense to me.
    I want to self host the domain, can I transfer it or should I refund and re-register the domain elsewhere? Will the domain name be blocked for a while?
    Please help!

    You can transfer the domain after 60 days from the date of purchase.

    I don't recommend canceling the domain, as canceled domains become the property of our registrar partner, and there is no guarantee that will return it to the public pool or that someone else wont buy it before you do.

    Do I need to wait 60 days to set up self hosting or can I go ahead and set that up now? Thanks again!!!!!

    You need to wait 60 days to transfer it, but you can change your nameservers to point to your hosting provider now: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers
