Remote hosted, but want WordPress.com access
-
How does one have a remote hosted (registered domain) wordpress based blog, but still get “into” or be part of the WordPress.com “community” of blogs????
-
Purchase a domain and purchase domain mapping from wordpress.com http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/10/domain-mapping/

That won’t gain access to the “wp.com community” though. Their blog won’t have access to the tag system and their login and password would be for their separate blog.
You can have a registered domain here at wordpress.com but if your blog is hosted elsewhere, it will not be connected with wordpress.com

For clarity: if you mean that you have downloaded the free software from http://wordpress.org for a self hosted site then, in fact, you are NOT part of the wordpress.com community and your posts will not be found on the wordpress.com global category/tags pages.

Please read the information at these links so you appreciate that wordpress.com and wordpress.org are separate and operate on different software.
